New Delhi: Deputy CM Manish Sisodia on Wednesday called on Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena has demanded a CBI inquiry into the allegations of toll tax scam in MCD. They allege that due to this alleged corruption in connivance of BJP leaders, MCD has suffered a loss of Rs 6000 crore. He has also demanded strict action against MCD officials, employees and BJP leaders involved in this nexus and compensation for the damage caused to the corporation.
In the letter, Sisodia has written that on commercial vehicles entering Delhi from UP and Haryana, MCD levies toll tax in the range of Rs 100 to Rs 1200 per vehicle. The company to whom the MCD had given the contract to collect toll in 2017 had to pay Rs 1,200 crore every year to the corporation. It is alleged that the company gave full money to the corporation for the first year, but after that, in connivance with the leadership of the corporation, almost stopped giving money to MCD. Sometimes 20% and sometimes 30% of the money was given to MCD. It is alleged that all the remaining money was grabbed by the company itself along with the leadership of MCD. In such a situation, in the event of non-receipt of money according to the terms of the tender, the corporation should have canceled the tender immediately and blacklisted the company and should have handed over the work to some other company by tendering afresh, but MCD did nothing for 4 years. did.
According to Sisodia, after embezzlement of thousands of crores, MCD floated a new tender in 2021, but gave a tender to another company of the old company’s directors at the rate of Rs 786 crore per annum. That is, the tender of 1200 crores was given in the second time only for 786 crores. Sisodia wrote that it is a matter of investigation that the tender from which the Municipal Corporation should have got more money in the coming years, was given at such a low price under whose pressure and to benefit whom? Not only this, in the name of the loss caused during the Corona period, a further discount of 83 crores was given to this company. From that it has now come to know that despite taking tender at such a low price, the company is still not paying full tax money to the corporation. Sisodia claimed that some officials of MCD have repeatedly objected to the tender given to this company and the decision of giving such exemption to it, but despite this, undue advantage is being given to the company continuously.
