Delhi Mayor Election: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi will have its second meeting on Tuesday. The agenda has been issued regarding the proceedings of the House. All newly elected councilors and nominated councilors will take oath. Only after this the election of mayor and deputy mayor will be done by voting.

Let us tell you that today the proceedings of the House will start at 11 am for the post of Mayor of MCD and first all the newly elected councilors and nominated councilors will take oath. While AAP has fielded Shelly Oberoi for the post of mayor, BJP has fielded Rekha Gupta. Last time the first meeting of the Municipal Corporation was held on January 6, in that meeting there was fierce fighting and uproar over the swearing in of the nominated councillors. Due to which the meeting of that day was adjourned by the Presiding Officer Satya Sharma. After that, Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena has decided to hold a meeting of the Municipal Corporation on January 24 for the mayoral election.

AAP agreed with the agenda of the House

On behalf of AAP’s MCD in-charge Durgesh Pathak, it has been said that the agenda for the election proceedings has been issued today. He completely agrees with that, it has been said on behalf of the party that the mayor should be elected in a constitutional manner. We hope that action will be taken accordingly. We have been demanding from day one that all constitutional procedures should be followed in the elections.

Today’s agenda will be like this

1. First of all, oath will be administered to newly elected councilors and nominated councilors at 11 am.
2. After that all 250 councilors and 14 MLAs will vote for the election of mayor.
3. After the Mayor is elected, he will assume his seat and will order the election of the Deputy Mayor.
4. After this, the mayor himself will complete the election of the members of the standing committee.
5. Nominated councilors will vote only in the election of the Zonal Chairman.
