New Delhi, Aug 6 (PTI) The Delhi Police has registered a case at Tughlaq Road police station in connection with the anti-Congress protests. Officials gave this information. The opposition Congress had called for a nationwide protest on Friday against inflation, unemployment and the increase in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on essential commodities. Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Amrita Guguloth said that the Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 186 (disobedience to public servant from discharge of public functions), 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 332 (intentional injury to prevent public servant from performing his duty)
The opposition Congress had called for a nationwide protest on Friday against inflation, unemployment and hike in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on essential commodities.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Amrita Guguloth said that the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has sections 186 (preventing public servant from discharging public functions), 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), 332 (public servant doing his work). A case has been registered with Tughlaq Road police station under charges of intentional causing hurt to deter him from doing so) and 34 (common intention).
The Delhi Police had refused permission to the Congress to hold protests in the national capital as prohibitory orders were in force in New Delhi district.
The police had on Friday detained over 300 protesters, including 65 MPs, from Lutyens’ Delhi.
