Congress President Election : Today is the last date for filing nominations for the post of Congress President. Till now people were speculating whether Ashok Gehlot would contest the elections after the political ruckus in Rajasthan. Who among Shashi Tharoor, Digvijay Singh and Mallikarjun Kharge will win the election. Meanwhile, KN Tripathi, who belongs to Jharkhand’s farmer family and Indian Army, has made the election for the post of party president more interesting than ever by announcing that he will contest for the post of Congress President.
Now former minister of Jharkhand government and resident of Medininagar, KN Tripathi will contest for the post of National President of Congress. Tripathi will file his nomination in Delhi on Friday. He has also bought nomination papers. He has given this information to the media on Thursday over the phone from Delhi. He said that he would follow the orders of the party high command regarding contesting for the post of president.
Congress has internal democracy, anyone can contest elections
The key question is how serious is he to contest the election of the national president. Has he had any talks with the party high command in this regard? When asked, Tripathi said there is internal democracy in the Congress. Internal democracy demands that a farmer’s son can contest for the post of president. This is not possible in BJP.
Tripathi belongs to a farmer family

Contested Daltonganj seat for the first time on Congress ticket in the year 2005 but had to face defeat at the hands of BJP’s Inder Singh Namdhari. In 2009, he again contested the Daltonganj seat as a Congress candidate and won the elections. After becoming an MLA, he got an opportunity to become the Minister of Rural Development in the state government. KN Tripathi, a resident of Redma Kashi Nagar locality of Daltonganj, belongs to a farmer family.
