About 40 percent voters in MCD elections are said to be from Purvanchal. To reach out to such a large group of voters, the BJP had included three big faces in the list of star campaigners, including North-East Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari, Gorakhpur MP Ravi Kishan and Dinesh Lal Nirahua. But, these star campaigners also entered the fray only in the last days of the campaign.
Some star campaigners held public meetings daily
Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur, Ramveer Singh Bidhuri, MPs Ramesh Bidhuri, Baijayant Jai Panda and Dushyant Gautam have made a list of 40 star campaigners prepared by the BJP. Participated in public meetings and padyatras daily. The rest of the star campaigners came to the election campaign only for two or three days. BJP’s election campaign revolved around these few star campaigners for 12 days. On one end, the command of the campaign was also handled by Kapil Mishra, a former minister of the Delhi government.
Poorvanchali faces were in high demand
BJP sources say that among the star campaigners whose list was prepared, the demand of voters was for Purvanchali faces. In this, the demand of Ravi Kishan, Dinesh Lal Nirhua and Manoj Tiwari is said to be high. Due to the high demand of these Purvanchali faces, the BJP once made up its mind to field Bhojpuri film star Khesari Lal Yadav as well. But, it didn’t work out.
