They have earmarked 800 crores to topple the Delhi government – 20 crores per MLA, want to break 40 MLAs. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal made this allegation on BJP on 25 August. Shortly before this allegation, Aam Aadmi Party MLAs had a meeting at Kejriwal’s house, in which 53 out of 62 MLAs reached. Manish Sisodia did not reach due to being in Himachal, while Kejriwal claimed not to have contact with the remaining 8 MLAs.
BJP is far from majority figure
AAP won 62 and BJP 8 out of 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly. The majority figure in Delhi is 36. In this sense, BJP will need 28 more seats to form the government here.
That is, he will have to break at least 28 MLAs of AAP, which is a very difficult task for the BJP.
On August 25, Kejriwal claimed that 8 AAP MLAs were missing. He had accused the BJP of breaking AAP MLAs. If his claim was to be true, even after breaking 8 MLAs, the BJP would have stayed away from the majority.
In Delhi, the BJP does not have a leader like Eknath Shinde, who can carry out a difficult operation like breaking 40 AAP MLAs.
At the same time, there is no such situation as Shiv Sena in the Aam Aadmi Party. Even though Kejriwal is claiming that Manish Sisodia was offered to join his party by the BJP.
Logic No. 3:
What will BJP get by gaining power in Delhi?
In the game of reversal of power in Maharashtra, BJP did not come out in the open till the last moment, the reason – it did not want to take the burden of toppling the government on its head. Similarly, in Delhi, there is a risk of defamation in front of the BJP on one hand, and on the other hand, being a union territory of Delhi, there is not much for the BJP to get there.
BJP is in control of Delhi Municipal Corporation. LG is the representative of the central government, LG has always been in conflict with the AAP government. Delhi Police is also in the hands of the Central Government.
In 2019, despite the Kejriwal government having a majority in Delhi, in the Lok Sabha elections held a few months later, the BJP won all 7 seats.
Similarly, in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP had won all the 7 seats in Delhi, while in the assembly elections held a few months later, Kejriwal won a majority.
That is, despite Kejriwal being in power in Delhi, the risk of defeat on the BJP in Delhi in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections is low.
Logic No. 4:
Gujarat elections are near, BJP will not want to give chance to AAP
After about 4 months, that is, in December, there is an election in Gujarat. The Aam Aadmi Party has given its full strength there. AAP has made promises like 300 units of free electricity and giving 1000 rupees a month to women. BJP has also recently started the facility of free Wi-Fi in 4000 villages, which is believed to be the answer to AAP’s free scheme promises.
That is, in the Gujarat elections, BJP is preparing to deal with every challenge of AAP. In such a situation, just before the Gujarat elections, the BJP would not want to give the Aam Aadmi Party a chance to play the victim card by toppling the government in Delhi.
Logic No. 5:
More attempt to divert attention from liquor scam
Kejriwal’s recent allegations of toppling the government on the BJP are being seen as an attempt to divert attention from the liquor scam. The special thing is that till now the Kejriwal government has given more answers to the questions arising on the liquor policy through its work on the education sector in Delhi. For this, he has also given an example of an article recently, in which the Delhi school model of the AAP government was praised. Sisodia is also the Education Minister of Delhi. Instead of answering the questions arising on the liquor policy, referring to Kejriwal’s praise for the work of education and health, is an attempt to divert attention from the issue.
In fact, on August 19, the CBI had raided 21 places including the residence of Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia in connection with the liquor scam. According to media reports, the initial report of CBI and ED regarding the lapses in the new liquor policy has revealed that the profit of liquor dealers increased by 989%, but the revenue of the government decreased and its VAT and excise duty fell by about 99%. I.
Let us inform that in November 2021, the Kejriwal government had implemented a new liquor policy in Delhi. In July 2022, LG VK Saxena had recommended a CBI inquiry citing violation of rules in the new liquor policy. The Economic Offenses Wing of Delhi Police, ie EOW, in its report submitted to LG and Delhi CM in July 2022, accused Sisodia of waiving tender license fee of Rs 144 crore in the name of Corona and benefiting liquor contractors through the new liquor policy. Imposed.
Two reasons, because of which Kejriwal’s fear may come true
1. BJP specializes in Operation Lotus
The opposition alleges that through Operation Lotus, the BJP has been playing the game of bringing down the government by mixing the MLAs of the elected state governments in its side.
Recent examples of this are Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra during the last 3 years. In all these states, there were governments of Congress or its coalition, but everywhere the governments fell ahead of time and BJP came to power.
Looking at the example of these states, Kejriwal’s claim of running Operation Lotus in Delhi also cannot be completely dismissed.
BJP is away from power in Delhi for 22 years
In the last few years, the graph of BJP has increased rapidly in the country. Despite this, he is away from the power of Delhi for the last 22 years. The last time the BJP came to power in Delhi was in 1998, when Sushma Swaraj became the Chief Minister. After this, Congress’s Sheila Dikshit was the Chief Minister of Delhi from 1998 to 2013.
Since the rise of the Aam Aadmi Party in 2013, Arvind Kejriwal has become the Chief Minister of Delhi twice with emphatic victories in 2015 and 2019. In such a situation, BJP can try to capture power by ousting the Kejriwal government.
