Jammu . More than 64 senior Congress leaders, including former Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, on Tuesday resigned from the party in support of Ghulam Nabi Azad. He submitted a joint resignation letter to Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
In a press conference on Tuesday, Tara Chand and former ministers Abdul Majeed Wani, Manohar Lal Sharma, Gharu Ram and former MLA Balwan Singh, among many others, announced their resignations, including the primary membership of the party. On this occasion, Balwan Singh said that we have submitted a joint resignation letter to Congress President Sonia Gandhi in support of Azad.
Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, 73, on Friday ended his five-decade ties with the Congress by submitting his resignation. He will soon start a national level party from Jammu and Kashmir. More than a dozen prominent Congress leaders, including former ministers and MLAs, hundreds of Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) members, municipal corporators and district and block level leaders have already left the Congress in support of Azad.
