Uttar Pradesh: Only the Chief Minister of UP is nicknamed ‘Bulldozer Baba’ Yogi Adityanath For him, it is not the headlines of the media, but the identity which is now on the lips of the common people. The surprising thing is that if anything is discussed the most about the work of Yogi 2.0, then it is bulldozer action. That is, the bulldozer which the government has been marketing from every platform is affecting the people.
It takes at least two decades for cases related to crime, including corruption, to be heard and decided across the country, including in Uttar Pradesh. There are still thousands of case precedents, in which the process of hearing is so long that many times the affected party dies. The cases go on till later. The surprising fact is that the more high profile or sensitive the case, the more complicated it is and the more time it takes.

It is said that before taking any such matter to the conclusion, it is completely confirmed that no aspect should be left out. While the other side of the coin is that in such a long process, it takes so long for the water of the well of judgment to reach the thirsty for justice, that neither the thirsty nor the thirsty survive. But, with the swearing-in of the Yogi government in 2017, an undeclared ‘trouble shooter’ started making a place in the constitutional system.
For the first time a CM said from the House – I will mix it in the soil
In February 2023, the session of the UP Assembly was going on. Meanwhile, on February 24 in Prayagraj, the gangster Atiq Ahmed gang brutally executed the murder of Umesh Pal, the main witness in the murder case of deceased BSP MLA Raju Pal. It was bound to raise questions on the government and the law and order. The government was under siege in the House as well. In response, the very next day the Leader of the House i.e. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said with all strictness – “We will work to bring the mafias to the ground. Will break his back. As a result, action has been initiated against those who are associated with the Atik gang and those who played any role or supported in the Umesh Pal murder case. The police killed some people in an encounter. Bulldozers were also used at the houses of some of the accused and those related to them.
STF, Crime Team, ADG Law and Order, Team of Special Police Officers and several police stations were involved in arresting or nabbing each and every accused in the Umesh Pal murder case. For the first time in the House, a Chief Minister spoke in such a harsh and sharp tone. Alphas were used. Its effect was that despite the delay in arresting the real culprits of the Umesh Pal murder case, the message went to the people that the government will not spare the mafia and its henchmen. The belief remains.
Every 13th day an encounter, bulldozers on mafias
There have been 10,713 encounters since Yogi Adityanath became the CM in March 2017. In 6 years, 178 miscreants were killed and more than 23,000 criminals were arrested. In 2017, 28 criminals were killed, while in 2018, 41 miscreants were killed. In the year 2019, 34 miscreants were killed. In 2020 and 2021, 26-26 criminals were killed in encounters. At the beginning of Yogi Adityanath’s second term as Chief Minister in 2022, 14 miscreants were killed. In the first three months of 2023, more than 13 criminals were killed. In Yogi Sarkar 2.0, in just five months from March 2022 to July 2022, property worth more than Rs 868 crore of mafia and organized criminals was seized or destroyed.
Apart from this, property worth more than Rs 1,832 crore of 62 mafia gangs was seized or demolished by bulldozers by running a campaign from March 2017 till now. If we look at the average of the entire tenure of the Yogi government, then every 13th day there is some declared criminal encounter. I was killed. From March 2017 to March 2023, 4,911 miscreants were arrested after injuring them. Operation Langda in itself is such a campaign in the history of UP Police, in which all the criminals from police station level to district level were shot in the knees and sent behind bars. After this operation, it happened that hundreds of history sheeters From Chhutbhaye and declared miscreants surrendered in the police stations by holding their ears.
Bulldozer became the means of justice!
It has never happened before that after any major criminal incident, the victims demanded that the houses of the accused or the culprits be demolished with bulldozers. In UP, Baba’s bulldozer razed the palace-like houses of many declared mafia and big criminals to the ground and also razed the houses of their henchmen. After this, on all the criminal incidents, when the policemen reached the house of the accused with bulldozers, they themselves started surrendering fearing that the house would be demolished. After seeing all such cases, this message went to the public that the bulldozer of the government is the most effective weapon to teach a lesson to the criminals. That’s why, sometimes a bridegroom brought a wedding procession on a bulldozer, and sometimes a tableau of a bulldozer was seen in a school exhibition.
The echo of ‘Baba’s Bulldozer’ started being heard from Kashmir and MP to America. The bulldozer was marketed in such a way that in 2022, the then British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was photographed riding a JCB to promote the British company that made JCB. In fact, the bulldozer has now become such a ‘trouble shooter’ in the UP system, which needs immediate action. It has been considered as the most effective means of However, some people are calling it unconstitutional and in some cases there have been complaints of its misuse.
Bulldozer became the cure for every problem in UP!
But, this much is certain that the bulldozer has reduced the distance of the long fight for justice to such an extent that the people themselves have started believing that without it, it is very difficult to establish a permanent rule of law in a big state like UP. That’s why, be it the matter of removing loudspeakers from temples-mosques or the challenge of celebrating Eid and Ramnavami together… It has settled in everyone’s mind that bulldozers will come on any disturbance. It is right, it is wrong, it is a little right, it is a little wrong or completely wrong, these can be debatable issues, but there is definitely 360 degree transformation in the constitutional and government system.
