The cause of the accident will be investigated and action will be taken. According to eyewitnesses, the incident took place at around 6.45 pm. The policemen posted at the site of the building collapse are having a hard time controlling the grieving relatives and urging them to exercise restraint in the hour of crisis.

    A firefighter engaged in the rescue work said, ‘A woman was buried at the place where the building had collapsed, whom we pulled out by breaking bricks and cutting wood. He is safe.’ Anuja, a resident of the area, told, ‘I was in my flat. We felt the tremor at around 6.47 pm. I thought it was due to earthquake. But I was asked to come out because a nearby apartment had collapsed. About seven-eight families were living in the apartment.

In the midst of the rescue work, filmmaker Muzaffar Ali was also seen asking about Uzma’s well-being. Meanwhile, JP Singh, a resident of Lucknow’s Jopling Road, whose friends live in a house next to the dilapidated building, heaved a sigh of relief that his friends and their family members were safe.
