Uttarakhand: After receiving a case of monkeypox in Kerala and Delhi, the Health Department has alerted all the districts. The department directed that the people returning after traveling to the monkeypox affected countries should be monitored.
The Dhami government of Uttarakhand has issued an alert on Tuesday regarding monkeypox. Recently, the central government had issued guidelines to all the states regarding monkeypox. In this episode, the Health Department has also become alert in Uttarakhand.
On the guidelines of the Center, the National Health Mission has issued SOP today. The department has instructed the DMs and CMOs of all the districts to be on alert mode. As a precautionary measure, the department has instructed to keep a watch on the symptoms of monkeypox in those returning from foreign travel.
Some guidelines have also been issued in this regard. Let us inform that till now 4 patients of monkeypox virus have been found in India too. However, in the meantime, there is also news of a relief that a patient has been cured of this infection, but a 22-year-old patient from Kerala infected with monkeypox infection has died.

This is the first case due to this infection in the country, in which the patient has died. Even if a case is found, it will be considered an outbreak. Contact tracing should be done immediately after getting a case. The District Surveillance Unit should be informed immediately if any suspect is found. Samples should be sent according to the guide line. To be investigated by the Rapid Response Team. Keeping in view the possibility of cases, targeted surveillance should be established. Ensure the safety of front line workers. However, till now not a single patient of monkeypox has been reported in Uttarakhand.
