Team engaged in rescue of workers
9 days have passed since the Uttarkashi Tunnel accident and till now the rescue team has failed to rescue 41 workers. Although efforts are continuing, a lot of effort is required in the rescue. Regarding the accident, the state president of Uttarakhand Congress along with party workers performed a havan in the Panchayati temple of Dehradun and prayed for the safe evacuation of the workers.
He said that he had talked to the officials involved in the rescue and the officials told that it may take 10 more days to rescue the workers. Accusing the government, he said that the failure of the state and central governments is visible. Although efforts are definitely being made, these efforts are insufficient.
Robots will save the lives of workers
Now a robot will be sent to save 41 lives trapped in Uttarkashi Tunnel. He will go inside the tunnel and help in the rescue. The robot will be sent to the other side from the small space left above the debris inside the tunnel, for which the robotics team has also reached the spot. She is inspecting for this. With the help of this robot, along with laying the pipe on the other side, other possibilities of rescue will also be explored.
Disaster Management Secretary Dr. Ranjit Kumar Sinha gave complete information in this regard. The lives of 41 laborers are in danger after the landslide in the Silkyara tunnel under construction on Yamunotri Highway on November 12. Five plans have been prepared to save the laborers and about 6 agencies of the Center and the State are working in this relief rescue.
How is the laborer’s place?
He told that there is some space between the debris that has come due to landslide inside the tunnel and the upper roof of the tunnel, through which a small robot will be sent to see how much space is there on the other side. Such a device will be installed in it which can tell the situation there. He told that since that place is very narrow, only a small robot can go there.
Ranjit Sinha said that the rescue operation is being conducted on a war footing to take out the workers trapped in the tunnel. If everything goes well and there is no obstruction while drilling with the auger machine, then it may take 30 to 40 hours to complete the rescue operation.
The government will bear the travel expenses of the workers’ families.
Uttarakhand government will bear the expenses of travel, accommodation and food for the relatives of 41 labourers. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said on Monday that officials have been asked to stay in touch with the relatives of the stranded laborers so that they do not face any inconvenience. He said that the state government will bear the expenses of those who want to come to Silkyara to know the well being of the workers.
