Uttarakhand News: Former Chief Minister Harish Rawat, who is in the headlines for his statements, has now suggested to CM Dhami. In the politics of the state, politics has heated up due to another issue these days. Former CM Harish Rawat is raising this issue a lot.
After the statement of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami regarding the formation of new districts, the politics has again heated up in the state. In 2011, the then BJP government has even issued the mandate to make Didihat, Yamunotri, Kotdwar and Ranikhet districts.
The issue of formation of new districts had also arisen in the Congress government. In the 2022 assembly elections, the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party had included it in their manifesto. However, even after 21 years, a new district has not been formed till date. Presently Uttarakhand has two divisions, 13 districts, 110 tehsils and 18 sub tehsils.
Demand to make them a district

There was a proposal to create a district with a population of about 3.5 lakh and an area of 1,42,578 hectares. Satpuli, Dhumkot, Yamkeshwar and Lansdowne were to be included in this.
Yamunotri: The demand for making Yamuna Valley a separate district has been being made since 1971. At that time the former Prime Minister Mr. Indira Gandhi had come on Uttarkashi tour. It was proposed to make Yamunotri a district with an area of 2,83,898 hectares with a population of about 1.5 lakh, in which Barkot, Purola and Mori were to be included.

Former Chief Minister Harish Rawat said that if Chief Minister Dhami is really serious about the formation of new districts, then he deserves congratulations, otherwise it is a gimmick to divert people’s attention from the recruitment scam. Rawat said that our government has made proposals for 11 districts. Proposals for tehsils and patwari circles are also ready. We missed, but Dhami has a chance to become Sikandar.
