UP News: 20 big cities of Uttar Pradesh will be developed as Solar City. Apart from this, e-rickshaws will be promoted in place of pedal rickshaws running in many major cities of the state.
The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh has started a campaign to modernize the big cities of the state. Under this, 20 big cities of the state will be developed as solar cities. Apart from this, e-rickshaws will be promoted in place of pedal rickshaws running in many major cities of the state. Paddle and petrol-diesel-run jugaad rickshaws will be removed in urban areas with population above five lakh in the state. Instead, e-rickshaws will be promoted. This will be arranged in the proposed amendments to the Uttar Pradesh Electric Vehicle Manufacturing Policy.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath intends to make all 75 districts of the state modern cities with the vision of making Uttar Pradesh a one lakh trillion economy. To fulfill this intention, he has set a target to develop 20 cities in the state as solar cities. For this, a blueprint for a new solar policy has been prepared in the state. Its presentation has been done before the Chief Minister in the past.

This city will become a solar city
Under this new policy, Lucknow, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Agra, Varanasi, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Bareilly, Aligarh, Moradabad, Saharanpur, Gorakhpur, Noida, Firozabad, Jhansi, Muzaffarnagar, Mathura, Azamgarh, Mirzapur and Ayodhya will be made solar cities. The newly constructed houses in these cities will be connected with solar rooftop plants. Apart from this, solar projects will be set up in parks and other government places in these cities.

Government will gradually remove jugaad rickshaws
Similarly, to check rising pollution, the government will remove pedal and petrol-diesel-run jugaad rickshaws in urban areas with a population of more than five lakhs. Instead, e-rickshaws will be encouraged. To implement this, a committee headed by Additional Chief Secretary Industrial Development Arvind Kumar has given its consent to amend the Uttar Pradesh Electric Vehicle Manufacturing Policy-2019. This committee has suggested to convert the existing man-driven rickshaw, diesel-petrol rickshaw into e-rickshaw.
