Congress MP Karti Chidambaram
Uttarakhand has created history. This bill was passed in the Uttarakhand Assembly yesterday amidst discussions regarding Uniform Civil Code. Since the passing of UCC, the opposition has also been continuously expressing its opinion on this issue. Meanwhile, Congress MP Karti Chidambaram has also expressed his opinion on this issue.
Congress leader P Chidambaram's son and MP Karti Chidambaram expressed his views regarding UCC. He said that UCC is right as a concept, but to bring UCC you will have to do extensive consultation and remove the inconsistencies present in all religions and all practices.

But in order to bring UCC, you must have wide-ranging consultations and it must be there to remove the anomalies which are there in all religions, all practices,” says Congress MP Karti P Chidambaram (@KartiPC) on Uniform Civil Code. pic.twitter.com/3pdwxQCmgE

'You cannot interfere in private life'
Speaking on UCC, Karti said that before implementing it, it is necessary to consult all religions because it is applicable to all religions. Every religion has its own laws and customs, in such a situation it becomes necessary to talk to everyone. Karti further gave an example and said that consider our religion only. We have Hindu Undivided Family Act. I myself come under this act. The question arises whether this Act will come under UCC or not. There is a provision for first cousin marriage in many states of the country. Even in many places uncles marry their nieces. Such marriages will no longer be valid in Uttarakhand. What I mean to say is that it is a very good thing that you remove evil practices from the society, but you cannot interfere in someone's personal life by implementing UCC.

'Uttarakhand Hindutva Iran's testing laboratory'
Karti further said that you are talking about registration in live-in relationship, if two people want to live together then they will have to get registered, then if both of them fight after six months then they will have to inform about this also. it's very strange. This is exactly how fundamentalist countries like Iran work. They also have many types of religious policies. Tomorrow he will say that if it is a dry day and you are drinking alcohol in your home, he can arrest you. Or from now on meat will not be sold anywhere, and if you cook chicken at home, that too will become illegal. So you cannot interfere in someone's personal life like this. This is a dangerous thing. In this way we too will become Hindutva Iran. Therefore, I would say that Uttarakhand is the test laboratory of Hindutva Iran.
