According to the data of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, 21 cases of swine flu were found in July 2021 last year. Whereas in July this year, these cases have increased to 105.
BMC’s ears perked up with the rising infection of swine flu long before the onset of winter in Mumbai. In July alone, 105 cases have been found, while between January and July, 109 patients have been found. However, it is a matter of relief that all the 15 suspected case of monkeypox reported in Mumbai have been found negative. However, the state health department is keeping a close watch on the airport and other entry routes. The Health Department of Maharashtra says that all the samples of monkeypox that were taken so far were sent to NIV Pune and all have been found negative.

A BMC report states that in the year 2020, between January 1 and December 31, 44 patients infected with H1N1 flu were found in Mumbai. In the year 2021, the number of these patients was 64. In the ongoing year, from January to July 31, 109 infected with swine flu have been found. The spurt in swine flu infection is clearly visible from these figures. In June this year, two patients of swine flu were found in the city, while in July this number rose very rapidly to 105. In July last year, 21 patients were found.
