The petition was filed in the Supreme Court on behalf of Ranjana Upadhyay and Santosh Upadhyay of Nakshatra 27 Media Private Limited. Both of them are the producer and director of the film.

single trial appeal
Ranjana Upadhyay and Santosh Upadhyay had argued in the petition that several cases and complaints have been lodged against them in different places, accusing them of hurting religious sentiments. In such a situation, all the cases should be clubbed at one place and the trial should also be conducted at one place.

Supreme Court disposed of the petition
At the same time, while hearing the matter, a two-member bench headed by Justice Suryakant disposed of the petition by giving the petitioners the freedom to adopt appropriate measures according to the law with the competent authority. Earlier, the UP government told the Supreme Court that only one FIR was registered against the petitioners, in which a charge sheet was filed after completing the investigation.

Petitioners’ demand not justified: Supreme Court
The court was told that no formal FIR has been registered on the other complaints. Considering the fact that only one FIR was registered which resulted in the charge sheet. On this, the court said that the demand of the petitioners is not justified.
