The association says that the cost of running the bus has already increased due to the increase in fuel rates, on which new rules related to pollution control i.e. scrapping are going to be implemented from next month. Due to this, it has become necessary to modify the buses. The technical modernization of each bus will cost one and a half to two lakhs. School bus fare is skyrocketing, government should rein in it – parents
There are about 40 to 45 thousand school buses in Maharashtra and 7 to 10 thousand school buses in Mumbai. The parents demand from the government that the government should put a check on this exorbitant rising fare. Parents say that schools are not ready to accept any responsibility in the matter of buses. Many schools depend on the services of private operators for bus service. In such a situation, they do not have much control over these bus operators. That’s why the government itself will have to take some action. In October last year itself, the school bus fare was increased by 10 per cent. It has been announced to increase the fares once again.
