Corridor will be built in Banke Bihari Temple in Mathura
The way has been cleared for building a corridor around the Banke Bihari Temple of Mathura. On Monday, Allahabad High Court gave green signal to the proposed plan of Yogi government. It will be constructed on the same lines as the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor has been built in Banaras. However, the corridor will be constructed with government money. There will be no tampering with the money lying in the temple account. Now let us also know the specialty of this corridor.
According to the proposed plan, the survey work for the corridor construction has been completed. The corridor will be constructed in about 5 acres. There will be three routes in the corridor through which devotees will be able to reach Banke Bihari Temple. The first route will start from Jugal Ghat and will go till the temple. The second route will start from Vidyapeeth intersection and the third route will start from Jadaun parking and reach the temple. Three routes are being provided in the corridor so that the crowd reaching the temple can be divided into three parts.

What else will be special in the corridor?
- The corridor to be built around the temple will be two storeyed. Artwork related to Banke Bihari can also be seen on the corridor wall.
- The convenience of passengers will also be taken full care of in this corridor. Along with accommodation for passengers, there will be provision for toilets and drinking water in the corridor.
- Apart from this, arrangements will also be made for medical emergency. Along with luggage storage, space for keeping shoes and slippers, large halls will also be built for the travelers coming from far away places.
- The corridor will be built in such a way that devotees can visit many other ancient temples simultaneously. Especially the road leading to Madan Mohan Temple and Radha Vallabh Temple will also be connected to the corridor.
- There is also a proposal to build a circumambulation route in the corridor. Its upper part will be around 12000 square meters while the lower part will be around 11500 square meters.
- The corridor will be constructed on five acres. The buildings and properties falling under this will be acquired by the UP government and in return compensation will be paid to the owner. About Rs 200 crore is proposed for payment.
- The construction of the corridor will be on the lines of Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, in such a way a path will be constructed from the temple to the Yamuna bank so that the devotees can have darshan of Banke Bihari directly after taking a dip in the river.
The High Court had reserved its decision on November 8.
A PIL was filed in the Allahabad High Court on behalf of Anant Sharma, Madhumangal Das and others regarding the proposed corridor for the Banke Bihari Temple. The High Court completed the hearing of the case and reserved its verdict on November 8. With the permission for the construction of the corridor, the court has now fixed January 31, 2024 for the next hearing of this case.
The priests had declared the corridor unnecessary
During the hearing of the case, the temple priests had opposed the UP government’s proposal to build the corridor. He had termed the construction as unnecessary and refused to give the amount of offerings and donations received by Banke Bihar. After this, the High Court did not allow the use of the money deposited in the temple account.
