In such a situation, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Finance Department of Punjab Government released an amount of Rs 85 crore under Ayushman Bharat Mukhyamantri Sehat Bima Yojana.

In this regard, the Punjab government said in a press release that the government has released a total of Rs 216 crore. Of these, the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Punjab has released Rs 85 crore to 920 government and private hospitals including PGIMER, Chandigarh and GMCH. With this, 60 per cent dues of government hospitals have been cleared. Also, the dues of all the hospitals will be cleared soon.

Finance department issued advisory
At the same time, the Finance Department of Punjab, while releasing this amount, has also advised that if any irregularity is found with respect to termination of the first insurance contract, then appropriate action will be taken by the administrative department against the responsible persons. The Finance Department also directed that the claims which have already been issued would be audited by the internal audit wing of the Finance Department, which would include the claims of all private hospitals.
What is Ayushman Bharat Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme
It is worth noting that like the Central Government’s ‘Ayushman Bharat Yojana’, ‘Ayushman Bharat Chief Minister Sehat Bima Yojana’ is applicable in Punjab. About 800 private hospitals have been recognized under this scheme. Under this scheme, any cardholder can get cashless treatment up to 5 lakhs. The money for the treatment is paid directly to the hospital. It is known that the motive behind this scheme of the government is clear that the poor and people living below the poverty line of the state can get the benefit of better health facilities. Also, their economic burden on health can be reduced.
