Punjab News: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested Raghubir Singh, the Naib Tehsildar posted in Tehsil Sri Anandpur Sahib during the campaign against corruption.
It is alleged that he has defrauded the exchequer to the tune of Rs 4.8 crore by colluding with some people. In fact, in village Karura of district Rupnagar, 54 acres of impossible mountain have been registered to the government at a higher cost, which should have been done at the collector rate.
A spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said that a case was registered against Naib Tehsildar Raghubir Singh and some other persons at Police Station Nurpurbedi, which is being investigated by Vigilance. Giving more details, he said that 54 acres of land in village Karura, Sri Anandpur Sahib with imperceptible hills, rivers, dunes, chau, Changar Tibba, Dhar, etc., were in the name of the villagers, which were to be bought by the Punjab State Forest Corporation, SAS Nagar. was proposed.
SGPC member Bhinder and his brother conspired
In this case two private persons Daljit Singh Bhinder (member Himachal SGPC) and his brother Amarinder Singh Bhinder in connivance with revenue officials sold 54 acres of land to Punjab Forest Corporation for Rs 9,90,000 per acre. Whereas its collector rate was only Rs 90,000 per acre. This caused a huge loss of Rs 48 crore to the exchequer.

During investigation, it has come to the notice that the land sold to the corporation is only 46 acres instead of 54 acres recorded in the registry. It was also revealed from the documents that Naib Tehsildar Raghbir Singh had registered the registry on 01-09-2020 by going to Nurpurbedi Tehsil outside his jurisdiction for the registry of this land. He said that after preliminary investigation, the Vigilance has arrested the accused Raghbir Singh and efforts are on to arrest the other accused.
