For the first time in Punjab, something like this has happened in the police department, which had never happened before. Gurpreet Kaur Dev and Shashi Prabha Dwivedi have become the first women IPS officers from Punjab to hold the post of Director General of Police (DGP). He is among the seven Additional DGP rank officers who have been promoted as DGPs. The total number of people holding the top police rank in the state has gone up to 13. All the promotees are 1993-batch IPS officers.
