On this occasion, Prime Minister Modi also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of 28 other projects costing about 1780 crores in Banaras. The Prime Minister reached Babatpur Airport in Varanasi at 9:55 am with a gift bag for the residents of Banaras. Here Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath welcomed him. At the same time, the people of Banaras were also present on the roadside to welcome the Prime Minister and their MP.

The people of Varanasi welcomed the Prime Minister by raising slogans of Modi Modi. People welcomed the PM at some places by blowing conch shells and at other places by showering flowers. While laying the foundation stone of the ropeway, the Prime Minister explained its merits. Said that this will not only be the country’s first public transport ropeway, but it will also become the world’s third ropeway. This will boost tourism in Varanasi.

So far, this type of ropeway is in La Paz, Bolivia and Mexico. The Prime Minister said that this project is being started as a pilot project. If everything goes well, then such projects can be brought in other places of the country as well.
Ropeway Project at a Glance
- The ropeway will be 3.8 km long, the distance will be covered in 16 minutes
- National Highway Logistics Pvt Ltd will work on the project with Swiss company Bathorlet
- A total of 150 trolley cars will run in an interval of two minutes.
- Trolley car will run at a height of 50 meters from the ground floor
- Each trolley car will have a capacity of 10 passengers.
- At least 3000 passengers will be able to travel every hour from one side of the ropeway
