According to media reports, the Agriculture Department in Moradabad district has already started meetings with traders and shopkeepers to remove the shortage of fertilizers. During this, the sellers of fertilizers are being instructed not to do black marketing of fertilizers. Agriculture District Magistrate Rutuja Tiwari says that if a shopkeeper is caught selling fertilizers at a rate higher than the fixed price, strict action will be taken against him.

Last year, during the Kharif season, 37 lakh tonnes of urea fertilizer was consumed in UP. At the same time, 8.5 lakh tonnes of DAP was also used as fertilizer by the farmers. At present, there is a stock of 3.28 lakh DAP in UP, while 13.24 lakh tonnes of urea is left.
