Five people have died in a landslide on the Kedarnath Yatra route in Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand. According to Rudraprayag Police, this accident happened after opening the road. Rudraprayag Police has said that a vehicle was found in a badly damaged condition under the debris. Bodies of five people have been recovered from it. This accident took place in Tarsali of Phata area of Kedarnath Yatra route.
According to Rudraprayag Police, among the five people who died tragically due to being buried under the debris, three were from Gujarat and one was a devotee from Haridwar. The police has said that the fifth person in the car is being identified.
CM Dhami visited Kotdwar
State Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has inspected the rain-affected Kotdwar area, where a few days ago a person went missing in a landslide and several bridges were damaged. Dhami asked Pauri District Magistrate Ashish Chauhan to repair the damaged bridge in Gadighati. Instructions have been given.
He also inspected the alternative bridge built on Malan river connecting Kotdwar and Bhabar. During this time, along with CM Dhami, Assembly Speaker and local MLA Ritu Khanduri was also present with him.
CM Dhami said that the first effort of the government is to restore normalcy in the state. Which has been disrupted by monsoon rains. He said that the damage caused by the disaster in all areas will be assessed and shortcomings in the systems will be removed. The government is providing immediate assistance and relief to the people affected by the disaster.
Red alert of rain in six districts
The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rain in six districts of Uttarakhand in the next few days. These six districts are – Tehri, Dehradun, Pauri, Champawat, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar. The meteorological department has issued a red alert here for the next three days. An appeal has been made to the common people, devotees and tourists to avoid unnecessary travel. The state government has instructed the district administration and SDRF to remain in alert mode 24 hours.
