Maharashtra News: Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that he does not agree with the Governor’s remarks regarding Mumbai. He said that the contribution made by Marathi people in the development of the city can never be ignored.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that he does not agree with Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari’s remarks regarding Mumbai. He said that the contribution made by Marathi people in the development of the city can never be ignored. In fact, Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari had said during a speech at a program of Rajasthani society that if Gujaratis and Rajasthanis leave Mumbai, then the status of the financial capital of Mumbai will be removed.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that the Governor is holding a constitutional post and he should be careful not to hurt anyone with his statements. Koshyari had said during a program here on Friday evening that if Gujarati and Rajasthani people do not live in Mumbai, then there will be no money left here and it will not be the financial capital of the country.

CM Shinde said this about the governor

Speaking to reporters at Malegaon in Nashik district, Shinde said, “We (on Mumbai) do not agree with Koshyari’s view. This is his personal opinion. He has now issued a clarification. He holds a constitutional post and he should take care of what his actions are and should not insult others.” He said that “the hard work of the Marathi community has contributed to the development and progress of Mumbai. It is an important city with immense potential. Despite people from all over the country making it their home, Marathi people have maintained their identity and pride and should not be insulted.”

Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis also expressed disagreement

Shinde said 105 people sacrificed their lives in the movement to make Mumbai the capital of Maharashtra and late Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray played a role in maintaining the city’s Marathi identity. The Chief Minister said, “No one can insult the people of Mumbai and Marathi. Mumbai faced many calamities but it never stops, it works round the clock and gives employment, livelihood to thousands of people.” Meanwhile, speaking to reporters in Dhule, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that Marathi speaking people have a major stake in the growth and development of Maharashtra. He said, “Even in the industrial sector Marathi speaking people have taken global steps. We do not agree with the Governor’s remarks.”
