A man from Bundi stood like a rock in the freedom movement of the country. Abhay Shankar Gujrati had the passion to compete with the British since childhood. At the young age of just 12, he participated in the freedom struggle being fought against the British. In the year 1942, in the Quit India Movement, shoulder to shoulder with the workers kept torches lit. The then princely state, which was sided with the British rule, did not like it. He inflicted atrocities on the agitators.

In the incident, the sight of the left eye was lost and the hand was also disabled. Freedom fighter Abhay Shankar was deeply troubled by the neglect of the government in the last period of Gujarati life. After the death, the administration did not consider the need to remember by celebrating the death anniversary. The freedom fighter’s family lives in the Amar Katla area of the city.
From the age of 12, the child became crazy about freedom
Born in the house of Moolchand and Bhanwari Bai alias Jana Bai on January 21, 1913, Abhay was brought up in the royal sack. But after the death of the father in his childhood, the education of the mother encouraged him to jump in the fight for freedom. Becoming Jija Bai, Ma Bhanwari Bai would tell the stories of Veeras to Abhay. When she sang the song, she used to stand in tears. From the age of 12, the boy started flying in Abhay to be free from slavery.

Freedom voter Manikya Lal Verma had come to organize a meeting in Chaugan Gate area. In the form of a child, Abhay also went to listen to the meeting. Verma was giving a speech against British slavery. People got excited. The police tried to disperse the crowd by running a stick, the boy Abhay remained fearless. But the brutal police beat up Abhay with sticks. Abhay’s hand got injured in the incident. Freedom fighter Manikya Lal Varma was arrested and imprisoned in the fort. The incident made the child Abhay crazy to get freedom.
