Miscreants created a ruckus in Haldwani city of Uttarakhand on Thursday evening. Police vehicles and bikes parked outside the police station were set on fire. The policemen present inside the police station were beaten. The police station was also attacked with stone pelting and petrol bombs. However, after the uproar, heavy police force has now been deployed in the city. District officer Vandana Singh said that an attempt was made to burn alive the officers present in the police station. More than 100 policemen have been injured. According to the police, orders have been given to shoot at sight the anti-social elements creating disturbance in the city.
DM Vandana Singh said that a crowd had gathered near the police station. No policeman had any dispute with the crowd. Despite this, the miscreants beat up the policemen inside the police station and set on fire the vehicles parked outside. The DM said that on the orders of the court, the illegal madrassa built in the city was being removed with bulldozers. During this the crowd became furious. After this the mob attacked the police station. Stones were also pelted at the encroachment removal team. Stones were also thrown at houses and shops. Half an hour after the encroachment was removed, an incident of violence took place in the city.
DM Vandana Singh said that on the orders of the court, a campaign against illegal encroachment is being run in Haldwani for the last 15-20 days. A task force has been formed to remove encroachment. The work of widening the intersections is being done by removing encroachments from the roads of Haldwani city. Guidelines have been given to officials in this regard. Earlier, a notice was issued to the encroachers in this regard. An attempt was made to find a solution by listening to the problems of all the people.
