A doctor posted at Rajkot Civil Hospital reached the hospital after getting drunk. This doctor started examining the patients in the state of intoxication. However, after protests by the patients, the police arrested the accused doctor and sent him to jail.
A doctor posted at the Civil Hospital in Rajkot, Gujarat was not only drinking alcohol while on duty, but also started examining the patients after getting drunk. On getting the information, the patients protested fiercely. After this, the police reached the spot and took the accused doctor into custody and sent him to jail. The accused doctor has been identified as Dr. Sahil Khokhar. A case has been registered against him by Pulia for prohibition of drugs and negligence in duty. On the other hand, the Health Department has ordered a departmental inquiry against the accused doctor.
Police told that the matter is related to the government hospital in Rajkot. After the commotion of the patients, the police reached the spot and arrested Dr. Sahil Khokhar. When the police searched his locker, an open bottle of liquor was recovered from it. While seizing this bottle of liquor, the police have registered a case against them under the prohibition law and negligence in duty. According to the police, drinking, serving, making and selling liquor is a crime in Gujarat. On deepening the second matter, now the health department has also come into action. The department has ordered a departmental inquiry against the accused doctor.
Medical confirmation of alcoholism
Police said that the accused doctor was arrested and taken to the civil hospital for medical treatment. During this, it was found that despite being on duty, Dr. Sahil Khokhar had taken an overdose of alcohol. He was intoxicated. According to the hospital management, examining patients in the state of intoxication is a heinous crime. After departmental inquiry, action will be taken against the accused doctor as per rules.
Doctors were posted on contract
The hospital management told that Dr. Khokhar’s posting was on contract in the civil hospital. Dr. Khokhar had recently taken leave and had gone to Diu for sightseeing. From there he bought a bottle of liquor. Instead of taking the liquor bottle home, he had kept it here in the hospital and whenever he got a chance, he would secretly drink alcohol and continue on duty. Seeing the seriousness of the matter, the hospital superintendent has lodged an FIR against Dr. Khokhar.
