Delhi News: Continuing the series of expediting projects under the Public Works Department (PWD), the Kejriwal government is working expeditiously on works related to the strengthening and beautification of Delhi’s roads. To ensure safe and smooth movement of people in this direction, Kejriwal government will strengthen and makeover Josip Broz Tito Marg (BRT Road) from Defense Colony flyover to Chirag Delhi flyover. In this regard, Deputy Chief Minister and PWD Minister Manish Sisodia approved the project work costing Rs 12.08 crore.
Under the project, the Public Works Department will ensure the maintenance of service lanes including footpaths, central verge along with strengthening of the road stretch from Defense Colony flyover to Chirag Delhi flyover along with lane marking, parapet walls/railings keeping in mind the norms. Paint work etc. will be done.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that, “Kejriwal Government is committed to provide safe and smooth road-walking experience to all the citizens of Delhi. In this direction, various important roads of the city are being checked by PWD. This road was also thoroughly inspected by the PWD officer for its present condition and requirements, after which the government has approved its strengthening. He said that Josip Broz Tito Marg (BRT Road) is one of the important roads of South Delhi and thousands of vehicles move here daily. The load of vehicles has increased on this road in the last years, so there is a need to strengthen it keeping in mind the maintenance of the road. Taking immediate cognizance of this, the government has approved the process of beautification and beautification of the road.

PWD Minister Manish Sisodia said –
Sisodia said that the Public Works Department is following global standards of road design to make the city roads better and safer. The government is constantly working towards improving the roads and trying to ensure that people in Delhi get a better experience of commuting on the roads here. He said that these efforts of the government would help decongest the city roads, reduce travel time of commuters and save energy. He directed the officials to complete this project in time and also directed that the officials should ensure that the people commuting here do not face any similar problem during the entire project of road strengthening.

Explain that, under the strengthening project, 3.45 km road from Defense Colony flyover to Chirag Delhi flyover and .87 km service road will be covered.
Along with the strengthening of Josip Broz Tito Marg, these things will also be taken care of
-> Strengthening of road stretch from Defense Colony Flyover to Chirag Delhi Flyover
-> Maintenance of footpath, and central verge will be done with the strengthening of service lane
-> Road marking will be done as per the standards, paint work of parapet walls/railing etc. will also be done
-> Greenery will be increased on both sides of Central Verge and Road
-> Along with the strengthening of the road, beautification will also be taken care of, road furniture, walkways will be developed, LED lights will also be installed.
