Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the country’s sixth semi-high speed Vande Bharat train running on the Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh)-Nagpur (Maharashtra) route on 11 December. According to media reports, the train will run six days a week and complete one leg of the journey in about five and a half hours. An official told that the inauguration of the Bilaspur-Nagpur Vande Bharat train Prime Minister Narendra Modi Will do in Nagpur.
Actually this train will leave from Bilaspur at around 6.45 am and reach Nagpur at around 12.15 pm. Similarly, the train will leave Nagpur at 2 pm and reach Bilaspur at 7.35 pm. Currently superfast trains take about seven hours to reach Nagpur, however this train will cover the distance in about five and a half hours.
These will be the stops of Vande Bharat
As per media reports, the train will be operated by South East Central Railway (SECR) and will have scheduled stops at Raipur, Durg and Gondia. The official also said that another Vande Bharat train is likely to start between Secunderabad and Vijayawada in 2023.
Target of inauguration of 75 Vande Bharat trains
The new generation Vande Bharat train was first inaugurated on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route in October this year. Railways has a target of inaugurating 75 Vande Bharat trains by August next year. All coaches of the semi-high-speed train are equipped with automatic doors, GPS-based audio-visual passenger information system, onboard hotspot Wi-Fi for entertainment purposes and comfortable seats. However, the first Vande Bharat Express train was flagged off on 15 February 2019 on the New Delhi-Kanpur-Allahabad-Varanasi route.
Features of Vande Bharat
In his address to the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort on August 15, 2021, Prime Minister Modi announced that during the 75 weeks of the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence, 75 Vande Bharat trains will connect every corner of the country. Speed, safety and service are the hallmarks of this train. Vande Bharat Express can run up to a maximum speed of 160 kmph and has coaches like Shatabdi train but better experience for the passengers. This train is the next big leap for Indian Railways in terms of speed and convenience. Apart from this, all the coaches are equipped with automatic doors. GPS based audio-visual passenger information system, onboard hotspot Wi-Fi for entertainment purposes and very comfortable seating area apart from swivel chairs.
Along with this, all the toilets in all the coaches of this train are of bio-vacuum type. The facility of side recliner seat, which is being given to the passengers of executive class, will now be made available for all classes. Bio-vacuum toilets with touch-free facilities are also built in the train. Each coach has a pantry with food and drink facilities. Each Vande Bharat Express has a total seating capacity of 1,128 passengers.

Vande Bharat 2.0 trains are fitted with Kavach (Train Collision Avoidance System) to enhance safety in operations. The addition of four emergency windows in each coach will improve safety. There are four platform side cameras including rearview cameras on the outside of the coach instead of the earlier two. The new coaches have Level-II Safety Integration certification for better train control. It will also have better fire protection measures. In case of power failure in the train, there will also be four emergency lightings in each coach.
