There is an anti-incumbency wave against the BJP in Valsad district, and to deal with it, Prime Minister Modi himself has taken the lead and held several meetings here, the effect of which is also visible now. Read this report of Ajit Pratap Singh.
This time anti-incumbency wave is visible against BJP in Valsad.
Valsad Gujarat It is a border district of its limit Maharashtra Adjacent to. Dadra Nagar Haveli Union Territory is also its border. Usually in this district BJP We can see the dominance of Congress is preparing to open its account in this district this time. There are 5 assembly seats in Valsad district, although this district is completely seen in saffron colour. But this time there is an anti-incumbency wave against the BJP, and to deal with it, Prime Minister Modi himself has taken the lead and held several meetings here, the effect of which is also visible now. BJP hopes that it will be able to maintain its history in the district. At the same time, the Congress is hoping to open its account in the district this time.
Valsad Assembly Seat
BJP has repeated Bharat Patel from here. The Congress has fielded Kamal Patel and the Aam Aadmi Party has nominated Rajesh Patel alias Raju Mirchi Wala as its candidate. Here the direct contest is between BJP and Congress. The Aam Aadmi Party will have to deal with the challenge of saving its deposit on this assembly seat. In 2017, BJP won this seat by more than 43 thousand votes. It is natural to have anti-incumbency against the repeat candidate of BJP, but the effect of anti-incumbency seems to be decreasing due to the campaign of Prime Minister Modi.
Dharampur Assembly Seat
This assembly seat is also occupied by BJP and it can be called the traditional seat of BJP. In the caste equation here, Ghodia Patel is the most populous voter whose number is around 95000. BJP, Congress and Aam Aadmi Party have fielded their candidates from this caste.
Arvind Patel is in the fray from the BJP, Kamlesh Patel is in the fray from the Congress, and Kalpesh Patel is in the fray from the Aam Aadmi Party. Due to all the three candidates coming from the same caste, there is polarization of votes here. Anyway, the basis of victory here will depend on the inclination of OBC and other castes towards the candidate. The fledgling Aam Aadmi Party does not seem to be able to make inroads here at the moment. The anti-incumbency wave is an important factor, and the recent tribal agitations can also show their impact on the elections here. In 2017, BJP had won from here by 22000 votes. This time too, BJP is expected to get this seat with less lead.
Kaprada Assembly Seat
In the 2017 assembly elections, Congress won this seat by 170 votes. Jitu Chowdhary, who was a Congress candidate in 2017, later joined the BJP, and then won the election on a BJP ticket. BJP has fielded him again in the election field. However, there is displeasure among the old BJP people about this. Basant Patel is in the fray from the Congress party and Jayendra Gavit from the Aam Aadmi Party is fighting the election. There is a close fight on this assembly seat. BJP workers are not comfortable supporting the candidate imported from Congress. Prime Minister Modi has also held many meetings here. The carpet bombing campaigning style of BJP is making a difference in the voters. Nevertheless, this seat can be said to be a close fight.
Pardi assembly seat
Kanu Desai, the finance minister in the state government, is contesting on a BJP ticket from Pardi assembly seat, who is contesting from here for the third time. Congress has nominated Jayashree Ben Patel here, who is not a local, it is natural for Congress workers to be angry about this. By not giving ticket to the local candidate, the Congress party has shot itself in the foot. Rebelling from BJP, Ketan Patel has become a candidate in Aam Aadmi Party. The BJP’s lead has been increasing in this assembly seat in the last three elections.
Here the votes of the people who have come from other states are decisive. Despite the contest being triangular, BJP candidate Kanu Desai is leading because he has a good track record. That is why he is taking charge of the Finance Minister in place of Nitin Patel in the present government. In this election also, the party is hoping to increase its lead.
Umrgaon Assembly Seat
In the last 4 assembly elections, BJP’s upper hand has been heavy and BJP has been winning from here continuously. BJP has given ticket to Raman Patkar from here who has won the election from here 4 times. Congress has made Naresh Balbi its candidate from here. Revolting from the Congress, Ashok Ghodi has entered the field of sweeping on behalf of the Aam Aadmi Party. BJP and Congress candidates belong to the same caste. In 2017, BJP won this seat by 41000 votes. This time the Congress candidates are impressive. This time too BJP is pinning hopes on victory. The margin of victory may be more or less. But BJP is sitting here hoping to maintain its record again.
There is a direct contest between BJP and Congress on 5 assembly seats in the district. The Aam Aadmi Party is seen in the election field with a broom, but it is not visible anywhere except Valsad assembly in the entire district. Aam Aadmi Party’s deposit can be saved in Valsad. There are chances of forfeiture of deposits on the remaining 4 seats. And on 4 seats the contest is directly between BJP and Congress. And from here Congress may have to struggle a lot to open its account.
