Congress Party: The Congress government is clearly showing weakness day by day. In the last eight months, 8 big and veteran leaders have suddenly left the Congress. At the same time, out of all these leaders, four leaders have also been Union Ministers. Today, one of the party’s veteran leaders, Ghulam Nabi Azad, submitted a five-page resignation letter to Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi and made serious allegations against her and Rahul Gandhi for the plight of the party.

Ghulam Nabi Azad first resigned from the J&K Election Campaign Committee and has now resigned from all party posts as well. He has also left the Congress by declaring to give up primary membership. Ghulam Nabi Azad had joined Congress in the 70s. In 1975, he was made the President of Jammu and Kashmir Youth Congress. In 1980, he was made the National President of the Youth Congress. In 1980, he won the Lok Sabha elections for the first time from Washim, Maharashtra. In 1982, he became a Union Minister for the first time. In 1984, he again became an MP from Washim. From 1990-1996 he was a Rajya Sabha MP from Maharashtra. In 2014, he became the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha and in 2015 he was again sent to the Rajya Sabha from Jammu and Kashmir.
Noted politician and lawyer Kapil Sibal had left the Congress this year to contest the Rajya Sabha elections as an independent candidate, but the Samajwadi Party supported him. On 16 May, he had announced his resignation from the Congress. Chandni Chowk in Delhi has been his election stronghold. In 2009, he won the Lok Sabha elections for the second time from Chandni Chowk.
RPN Singh was the Minister of State in the Ministry of Home Affairs of India from 2011 to 2013 in the Manmohan Singh government. He was a Member of Parliament from Kushinagar in the Fifteenth Lok Sabha. In September 2020, he was made in-charge of Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh Congress. He resigned from the Congress in January this year, a month before the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections and joined the BJP. He won the election of MLA from Padrauna in 1996, 2002 and 2007. RPN Singh’s father CPN Singh was the Minister of State for Defense in the Indira Gandhi government in the 80s.

Ashwini Kumar had resigned from the Congress on 15 February 2022 this year. He has previously served as Union Minister of Law and Justice, Union Minister of State in the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion and Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Commerce-Industry. In 1991, at the age of 37, he became the youngest additional solicitor in the country. He has served as the National Spokesperson of the Congress Party and the Chairman of its Ideas Department.
Sunil Kumar Jakhar was elected thrice from 2002 to 2017 in the Abohar constituency of Punjab. He was the Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Legislative Assembly from 2012 to 2017. He was a Congress leader for five decades before 2022. In May 2022, he left the Congress and joined the BJP saying that he had to support nationalism and work for unity and brotherhood in Punjab. In 2017, he won the by-election to Gurdaspur Lok Sabha seat in Punjab.
Hardik Patel’s political career started with the Patidar movement of Gujarat. He resigned from Congress in May 2022. Hardik Patel, who has been a vocal critic of BJP, joined it in June 2022. On joining BJP, Hardik Patel wrote in a tweet, “To work for national interest, state interest, public interest and society under the leadership of Shri Narendra Bhai Modi, Makkam Home Minister Shri Amit Bhai Shah and National President Shri JP Nadda ji of Mother Bharati. For this I have joined the Bharatiya Janata Party today.
On August 4, Kuldeep Bishnoi resigned from the post of Congress MLA from Adampur assembly seat in Haryana’s Hisar district. After that he joined BJP. He left the Congress after six years. Regarding his resignation, it was said that he wanted to become the state president of Haryana Congress, but in April, former MLA Udaybhan, a supporter of Leader of Opposition Bhupendra Hooda, was made Congress state president, this did not suit Kuldeep. He sought time to meet Rahul Gandhi but did not get it.
Jaiveer Shergill is a lawyer by profession. Two days back, he has resigned from the post of Congress National Spokesperson. He resigned and accused the Congress of sycophancy. In his resignation letter to Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi, he said, “The decisions taken in the Congress are not for the public interest and the country, but for the fulfillment of the vested interests of some people.”
