The Ministry of Home Affairs has appointed Director General of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Sanjay Arora as the Commissioner of Police of Delhi. The Home Ministry has issued an order in this regard. Arora will continue in his post till 31 July 2025.

Tamil Nadu cadre IPS officer Sanjay Arora has been appointed as the new Delhi Police Commissioner. He will replace Rakesh Asthana, currently posted in this service. The Union Home Ministry has informed about this by issuing an order on Sunday. Sanjay Arora will take over as the Delhi Police Commissioner from August 1. According to another information received there, Rakesh Asthana’s farewell is also being organized. His farewell ceremony will be held at 4 pm at Parade Ground near Kingsway Camp in Delhi. This will be followed by another farewell ceremony at Adarsh Auditorium at 5:30.

The Ministry of Home Affairs said in its order- “In the event of deputation of Sanjay Arora, IPS (TN:88), Director General, ITBP to AGMUT cadre, the Director General of Sashastra Seema Bal, S.L. Thaosen, IPS (MP: 88) will hold the additional charge of the post of ITBP DG.

Commanded the battalion of ITBP from the year 1997 to the year 2000
Sanjay Arora has served in ITBP on deputation as Commandant from 1997 to 2002. Sanjay Arora commanded the battalion of ITBP in Matli, Uttarakhand from 1997 to 2000. During that time he used to insist his soldiers to eat three apples a day. That is why he is known as ‘Teen Seb Saheb’ till date.
