Close contest between BJP and Congress in Gandhinagar South seat

Earlier two elections were won by BJP. In 2012, Shambhuji Chellaji Thakur of BJP defeated Suresh Kumar Patel of INC by 4,225 votes. Shambhuji Chellaji Thakur got 73,551 votes and Congress candidate got 69,326 votes. The contest between BJP and Congress is very close on this seat.
