Situated in the lap of Himalayas in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand state, Auli is famous for snow skiing lovers. Auli is known as Bugyal (meadow) in Garhwali language. It is situated at an altitude of 2500 meters to 3050 meters above sea level. For the first time in history, preparations have been started to conduct maneuvers of Indo-American soldiers in the valleys of Auli. If sources are to be believed, the soldiers of both the countries will be part of the exercise in the month of October.
Exercise will be conducted in Auli, Uttarakhand from 14th to 31st October
Sources in the defense and military establishment said that the 18th exercise at Auli in Uttarakhand will run from October 14 to 31. The last exercise was held in Alaska in the US in October last year. Sources said the objective of the exercise is to enhance understanding, cooperation and interoperability between the armies of India and the US. The exercise is being conducted in the backdrop of India’s border dispute with China in eastern Ladakh. India-US defense ties have been deepening over the past few years. In June 2016, the US declared India as a major defense partner.

Why is this Indo-US exercise important
According to media reports, this exercise between the Indo-US Army, being organized in Auli, Uttarakhand, is also important because in September last year in the Barahoti area of Uttarakhand, Chinese soldiers were inside the Indian border for about 5 km. had entered. However, within a few hours the Chinese soldiers were driven back. It is said that there is such a pasture in Barahoti, about which there is a dispute between the two countries. This pasture is spread over an area of 60 square kilometer.
