Delhi News: Mayor of Delhi Dr. Shaili Oberoi expressed concern about stray dogs. He said that due to the negligence of the previous governments Delhi The residents have to deal with stray animals. In these days, the MCD has not solved the problem, let alone calculated it. He said that at present there are about six lakh stray dogs in Delhi. He insisted on dog sterilization. Said that to make it effective, full cooperation of RWA and dog lover should be taken.
The mayor said that the MCD headed by him would fulfill every promise of the Kejriwal government. This includes making Delhi free from stray animals. For this, world class model will be implemented in Delhi. Mayor Shelly Oberoi was speaking to reporters at the Civic Center. He said that as soon as the incident of Vasant Kunj came to his notice, he had held an emergency meeting with the officials. In this, the sterilization of street dogs has been discussed in detail.
Counting not done in seven years
The Mayor said that during the meetings with the officials, it has come to know that in the last 7-8 years there was no enumeration of stray animals inside Delhi. Despite this, concrete arrangements for its sterilization were not made. He said that at present there are 20 sterilization centers in the city, out of which 16 are functional. The mayor instructed the officials to make the sterilization process more effective. Said that RWA and dog lover should also be included for this.
