PIB has fact-checked the claim being made regarding the expenses of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Morbi. TMC leader Saket Gokhale had claimed in a tweet that Rs 30 crore was spent on PM Modi’s visit.

TMC spokesperson Saket Gokhale quoted RTI as claiming that Rs 5.5 crore was spent for reception, event management and photography of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Morbi, while the families of the 135 people who lost their lives were given compensation by the government. Gave a compensation of only four lakhs, which is a total of five crores. Saket Gokhale said that the cost of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s event management was more than the compensation given to the families of 135 people.
