The full moon date of Sawan month will start from 10:38 in the morning on 11 August and will remain till 7:05 on 12 August. Due to the full moon date being both the days, people are in a state of confusion. Rakshabandhan will be celebrated on 11th August. For this to be celebrated on 12th August, astrologers say that it will be auspicious to tie Rakhi on 12th August due to the shadow of Bhadra on 11th August.

According to the Hindu calendar, the Bhadra period is from morning till 8:51 on August 11. According to Hindu beliefs, auspicious works like Raksha Bandhan are not done after sunset. Therefore, the pundits of astrology and rituals are telling it auspicious to tie Rakhi on 12th August itself. In astrology, along with the right time to tie Rakhi, the direction has also been told. On the day of Rakshabandhan, the brother should sit facing the east direction while tying the sister’s rakhi. Also, while tying Rakhi, the sister’s chance should be towards the west.

While tying Rakhi, sister should keep a lamp of Akshat, sandalwood, roli, ghee in the plate of Rakhi. After this, apply the vaccine of Roli and Akshat on the brother’s brain. Then perform her aarti. After tying rakhi on brother’s wrist, sweeten his mouth with sweets. Keep in mind that the brother’s head should not remain empty while tying Rakhi.
