When we are celebrating the 74th Republic Day of the country and are proud to see the country moving towards development, in such a situation, to what extent is the disintegration of the family, the plight of the elderly justified. According to the government report, so far only about 250 districts of the country have arrangements for old age homes for the elderly. The special thing is that 52 old age homes will be opened in about 33 districts, for which the states will have to provide land or buildings free of cost. In the remaining 70 districts, these will be operated through private voluntary organizations and trusts. See how fast our country is progressing, where children are buying modern flats for themselves in big cities. The government is making arrangements for old age homes for the elderly people of those houses.
Which districts have maximum ashrams
Out of 740 districts of the country, there is no provision of ashrams in 490 districts. On the other hand, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh are at the forefront in the number of old age homes. By the year 2050, the number of elderly people is estimated to be around 300 million. This figure is recorded on government files only, the reality would be far more gruesome than this.
Growing trend of joint family in America
On the contrary, all the elderly people living in America do not go to old age homes under any compulsion, but live happily being a part of the old age club. But the practice of leaving the elderly in old age homes is decreasing in America, where people are gradually adopting the joint family culture. Due to family disintegration and guilt, people are now realizing their importance. Feeling the joy of a normal family life by taking care of our elders at their homes. In Indian culture, there has always been a trend of joint family, which we should maintain.
