Even though thousands of wooden houses made of Kath-Kuni technique are present in Himachal, but such houses are present in many other states of North India. Apart from Himachal, you can stay in these houses built in Uttarakhand.
Kath-kuni is a traditional technique, in which neither cement nor iron is used. In Himachal such houses are made of stone and wood. Wood is used more in this and that is why such houses look very beautiful.
There is a special reason for the use of only wood and stone in the traditional technique of Kath-kuni. The builders of the house with this technique say that no matter how cold outside is due to wood and stone, but the atmosphere inside the house remains warm to a great extent.
In order to woo the travelers in Himachal, now the hotel owners are constructing houses in this traditional way, which they name as Home Stay. Most of the wood used in this is old, which is recycled and used.
