According to the report of The Hindu, the weight of these stones has been said to be 350 tonnes.A program was organized in Pokhara on 26th January to give this stone to Janakpurdham. Now both the stones will be tested in Janakpur.
Mahant of Nepal-based Janaki Temple and former Deputy Prime Minister Bimalendra Nidhi along with 250 people will reach Ayodhya with both the stones and hand them over to India. This group will reach Ayodhya by road on 1 February.

How special is this stone?
It is being said that this initiative will improve the relations between Nepal and India. This is not an ordinary stone. It is a part of Shaligram Shila. These stones of Shaligram are found in Gandaki river. Their age has been told to be crores of years. These Shaligram stones are worshiped as Lord Vishnu. This is the reason why it is also known as Devshila.
According to religious beliefs, it has special importance in Hindu religion. Due to it being considered as the form of Lord Vishnu, it is worshiped daily in homes. That’s why the statue of Ram-Janaki will be built in Ayodhya before Makar Sankranti of 2024 with these stones reaching India.
Shaligram is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu
It is believed that there are 33 types of Shaligrams in the world. Out of this, 24 forms are associated with 24 incarnations of Lord Vishnu. The house where it is kept, that happiness, peace, love and blessings of Goddess Lakshmi remain there.
In a TOI report, Prakash Gupta, in-charge of Ram Mandir Trust, says, Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s national secretary Rajendra Singh Pankaj reached Nepal on Wednesday. He will return with two parts of the holy rock.Those parts of the rock are 5 to 6 feet long and 4 feet wide. With this only the idol of Ram-Janaki will be prepared and installed.
Both the stones are of 350 tonnes.
A group of priests worshiped the stones on the banks of the Kali Gandaki river. During this, many people including senior leaders of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, who had arrived from India, were present. Mahant Ramtapeshwar Das, head of the Janaki temple, says that after several weeks of efforts, experts have identified two large pieces of stone. Geologists and technicians have also been in the team of experts. The weight of the two pieces which have been selected after investigation is 350 tonnes. It will be sent as a gift to Ayodhya.
