Old City – New Tourist Facility: Kashi is being developed on the lines of Paris and Istanbul

The picture of Varanasi is changing. Balloon rides, boat races and cruises are changing the view of the ghats here. Efforts are being made to attract rich tourists from all over the world. The unique confluence of faith and tourism is being given a very global form.

The main attraction for a large section of tourists here is the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, where more than 1.5 lakh tourists are coming daily. Encouraged by the crowd, the administrative managers of the temple town have redoubled their efforts to renovate and develop the ‘Antargrahi Parikrama’.

Balloon and Boat Festival

Kashi has had its own traditional way of living and feeling. But now this city is opening a new way for rich tourists from all over the world. The four-day Kashi Balloon and Boat Festival is a new beginning in this direction. Which was possible with the cooperation of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). The Balloon Festival has got the support of experts from six countries.

Kashi’s 15×4 feet boats have also been prepared anew. For the Balloon and Boat Fest, 12 professional Mallahs selected from the traditional boatman families of Varanasi were formed. The team participated in a 3 km race between Dashashwamedh Ghat and Raj Ghat.

In a TOI report, Varanasi Divisional Commissioner Kaushal Raj Sharma says that around Rs 19,000 crore has been spent on various projects in Varanasi. 200 tourist guides are being trained here for the G20 delegates. There is a possibility of getting all the preparations done by March 31. Because G20 summit meeting is proposed to be held in April, June and August.

Kaushal Raj Sharma says that as the guests pass through the religious circuits of the city, our trained guides will show them the way.

All ghats will be modern

Here every ghat has its own unique story, architecture and history. But according to experts, Varanasi’s biggest challenge is to manage the diversity within it. Welcoming as many people as possible with diversity. Under the pressure of the city’s existing resources – land, water, road, rail, ecology and biodiversity, Kashi is now expanding on the north and south banks of the Ganga, as well as across the river and on its eastern banks.

International look of ‘Namo Ghat’

In the coming time, preparations are on to transform Varanasi. The work of Namo Ghat here is likely to be completed. There will also be a helipad, food court. There will be an amphitheater large enough to seat 1,000 people. It is expected that this will reduce the burden of political programs on Dashashwamedh.

To meet the shortage of space, a premium tent city has been set up near Ramnagar from where panoramic views of the city can be seen. A scheme of the Uttar Pradesh government is also proposed regarding Varuna river between Varanasi, Mughalsarai and Ghazipur.

Boat will run on CNG

The work of cleaning the city is going on fast. Although diesel boats still run on the river here. But the administration claims that it has converted diesel boats to run on CNG. A 420 MLD sewage treatment plant is ready here. Another plant of 150 MLD capacity is going to be built. The administration also says that an agreement has been made with NTPC to generate energy from about 400 tonnes of waste here daily.
