With this, India will achieve a big achievement by leaving China in the field of meteorology.
Till now America, Britain and Japan have such countries, which give weather information with the help of supercomputers. India will be able to forecast accurate weather with the help of supercomputers like these countries from March next year.
India will soon get super computer
MoES Secretary, M. Ravichandran informed at an event on 24 May that the new supercomputers will be placed at IITM and NCMRWF. These centers are in Pune and Noida. Rijju had come to inspect Noida’s National Center for Medium Range Weather Forecasting (NCMRWF) on Wednesday. He has taken over the Union Ministry of Earth and Science on May 18, before that he was working as the Law Minister of the country.
At present India has the most powerful civilian supercomputers Pratyush and Mihir. However, the 18 petaflop supercomputers that are going to be available to the country by the end of the year, have not been named yet. These computers have been imported from France.
