today’s big news
Dr. Ambedkar enumerated the merits of the constitution
In the Constituent Assembly, he kept his point on its aspects. This last speech of his on the constitution was very popular. He said, it is true that we took more time to prepare the constitution than the assemblies of America and South Africa and less time than Canada and Australia, but it was necessary to keep two things in mind while preparing the constitution. First, the constitutions of America, Canada, South Africa and Australia are much smaller in size than our constitution. There are 395 articles in the Indian constitution. There are only 7 articles in the US Constitution. Apart from this, 147 sections have been included in the Canadian Constitution, 128 in Australian and 153 in South African.
2,473 amendments have not been easy
He said, the most important thing is that the constitution makers of America, Canada, Australia and South Africa did not have to face the change related to this. He passed as he made. This did not happen in India. For this, 2,473 amendments had to be made in the Constituent Assembly. It hasn’t been easy. He said, my friends did as much defense of the legislation as they could. However bad a constitution may be, it can prove to be good if the people who follow it are good. The effectiveness of the constitution does not entirely depend on its nature. The constitution can only decide the provision of legislature, executive and judiciary. The elements on which the operation of these organs of the state depends are the political parties satisfying the public and their aspirations.
constitution guaranteeing rights
Article 32 of the Indian Constitution is considered its soul. Article 32 is the right to constitutional remedies. It guarantees the fundamental rights of the individual and also makes all the rights effective. The Indian Constitution was written in two languages – Hindi and English. Every member of the Constituent Assembly signed on the copies of these two.
