Apart from this, the trend of smoking and alcohol consumption has increased significantly among the youth, due to which health hazards, sedentary lifestyle, increase in stress and changes in food habits begin. According to the data received from the doctors, after the Kovid epidemic, there has been a significant increase in the cases of heart attack and heart failure. According to cardiologists of Sarvodaya Hospital, Faridabad Sector-8, there has been an increase of more than a quarter in the cases of heart attack last year. Dr. LK Jha, Associate Director, Cardiology, Sarvodaya Hospital, Sector-8, Faridabad, said, “There has been an increase of 25-30 per cent in cases of heart attack and heart failure among people infected with corona after the pandemic.” Patients who were admitted to the hospital or put on ventilators due to corona are now facing heart-related problems and we are seeing a significant increase in such cases.
He further said, ‘Kovid affects the heart in two ways. In the first method, there is an infection directly in the heart muscle, due to which the heart becomes weak and the risk of heart failure increases. Second, after Kovid, the mild form of infection persists in the body for several months. Due to this, swelling remains in the arteries, due to which blood clots start forming inside the heart. Due to this, heart attack can happen and other problems can also happen. During the last few months, there have been many cases of sudden heart attack after doing heavy exercise. The reason behind these cases can be inflammation of the heart muscles due to long covid, which can lead to heart attack.
