Kashmir Files Controversy: The film ‘The Kashmir Files’, based on the atrocities of Kashmiri Hindus, has once again created ruckus in the country. IFFI jury head and Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid called the film vulgar propaganda. On which from the actors working in the film to the common people also got angry. Lapid was heavily criticized on social media. Even he had to listen to strong words from the diplomats of his country. Despite all this happening, the Israeli filmmaker is firm on his statement.
Nadav responded to his criticism, saying he was surprised by the film justifying Indian policy in Kashmir, and that it has “fascist features”. The film is based on the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus in the 90s. Nadav said that he would not be surprised if such a film is also made in Israel in the coming years. Nadav was answering questions from the local press today.
He said, I knew that this is such an event which is very much related to the country and everyone praises the government on this. It is not an easy situation, because you are a guest, I am the chairman of the jury here, you are treated very well. And then you come and attack the festival. There was apprehension and there was restlessness. I didn’t know what the dimensions would be, so I approached it with some apprehension. Yes, I spent the day apprehensive. Let’s put it this way, I’m happily on my way to the airport now.
While leaving, Lapid targeted his country as well.
Nadav Lapid further said that in countries that are fast losing the ability to speak their mind or speak the truth, someone needed to speak up. So I felt I had to, because I come from a place that has not improved itself and is in their way. In fact, Lapid has also been an attacker on his own country, Israel. He has criticized the leadership of his country from the international platform. Lapid said during an interview that Israel’s collective soul is a sick soul.
