Union Public Service Commission on behalf of the Ministry of Railways (UPSC) has been given a huge responsibility. Under this responsibility, now UPSC will have to organize an exam of the Ministry of Railways, which will be conducted in 2023. In fact, the Ministry of Railways said on Friday that recruitment for the ‘Indian Railway Management Service’ (IRMS) will be done through a specially designed examination. Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will conduct this recruitment exam from 2023.
According to the ministry, the Indian Railway Management Service Exam (IRMSE) will be a two-stage exam consisting of a preliminary screening exam followed by a main written exam and interview. The Ministry said in a statement that eligible candidates will have to appear in the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination to appear in the second stage of the examination i.e. IRMS (Main) written examination.
What will be the format of IRMSE?
The subject set in the IRMS (Mains) exam will consist of four papers with conventional essay type questions. There will be two qualifying papers in the first paper, which will be of 300-300 marks. Paper A will be in an Indian language selected by the candidate. Whereas, Paper B will be conducted in English. There, there will be two papers of 250 marks on the optional subject. Optional subjects are Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Commerce & Accountancy. The syllabus for the qualifying paper and optional subjects will be similar to that of the Civil Services Examination (CSE). He will also have the option to choose optional subject separately.
What should be the educational qualification?
The language medium and script for the qualifying paper and optional subject will be the same as that of CSE (Mains).
