The central government has taken a big decision regarding the officers of All India Services. This IAS, IPS is linked to the salary of IFS. The Government of India has abolished the provision of special allowance and incentives to the officers of All India Services including IAS, IAS and other services in 7 states. This decision will be applicable to the officers of North East cadre. This decision of the Center will have a direct impact on the salary of civil service officers. This allowance was 25 percent of his basic salary. The question is why was this done? The official source has given the answer.
The North East cadre includes the states of Northeast- Assam, Manipur, Sikkim, Mizoram, Tripura, Nagaland and Meghalaya. IAS, IPS and IFoS officers posted in these states were given incentives and special allowances in their salaries. But now these allowances have been stopped with immediate effect. In this regard, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has issued an order.
Why was IAS, IPS’s special allowance closed?
The Department of Personnel and Training had issued a brief order in this regard on 23 September 2022. But why was this decision taken? No formal answer has been given to this. But official sources say that posting in the northeastern states is considered difficult. That’s why allowances were being given. But now the law and order situation has improved in the North Eastern States. This can be a reason to withdraw the provision of allowance. At the same time, by doing this the government will also be able to save some money.
The Government of India had issued an order to introduce this special allowance for IAS, IPS, IFS officers on 10 February 2009. It is called Special Allowance for Officers belonging to Northeast Cadre of All India Services.
Three more facilities
The government had also issued related orders on 22 January 2007, 16 February 2009 and 5 September 2017. Now those orders have also been withdrawn. The January 2007 order pertained to housing after retirement. The February 2009 order was related to exemption from income tax. Whereas the order of September 2017 was regarding deputation from one cadre to another.
