The Directorate of Education (DoE) of Delhi Government has taken major action on Delhi Public School (DPS) for violating the rules. Directorate of Education DPS Rohini has been derecognised. This action has been taken on DPS Rohini because the school increased the fees in violation of the rules in the academic session 2021-22. In the order issued on Tuesday, the Directorate of Education said that the school authorities did not follow the instructions issued by the department by increasing the school fees during 2021-22.
It was said in the order that the DPS did not even obey the orders issued by the High Court. Apart from this, the increased fees were being collected during 2021-22, ignoring the rule of not increasing the fees by different courts. The school also violated the rules by collecting the arrears of fees for 2020-21. Because of this, this action has been taken on the school.
Approval not received for fee hike
Actually, DPS Rohini has been built on the land allotted by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA). In such a situation, according to the land allotment rules, schools have to take permission from the education department before increasing the fees. However, the school started charging increased fees from the students without taking approval from the education department. Because of this, now this action has been taken against the school.
However, due to the cancellation of the recognition of the school, the current (2022-23) academic session is not going to be affected. But the school has been told that they will not give admission to a single student in the academic session 2023-24. At the same time, no response has been given by the school on this matter so far.
Complaints were received for increasing the fees
It was said in the order of the Directorate of Education that complaints were being received against the school that it was charging increased fees. A complaint was also received that the school has not even reduced the annual school fees by 15 percent. It was also said in this order that the Directorate of Education had ordered DPS Rohini not to increase the fees in the academic session 2018-19 and 2019-20. The school was asked to refund or adjust the increased fees. However, the reply given by the school in this matter was not satisfactory.
