IRCTC started ‘Bharat Gaurav’ train almost a year ago. It is facing such a shortage of passengers that it had to cancel two special tour package plans of the train. The fare of ‘Bharat Gaurav’ train can be reduced by up to 20-30 percent. However, a final decision is yet to be taken in this regard. So far this train has been successfully operated only on the Ramayana circuit of ‘Bharat Darshan Yojana’.
A tour package of 18 days is available in ‘Bharat Gaurav’ train. In this, the facility of third-AC is available, whose total fare is 62 thousand rupees. If this fare is reduced by 20 percent, then the fare will be less by Rs. 12,400. On the other hand, in case of 30 percent reduction, its fare will be reduced to 18,600. There is a possibility of reduction in the fare of sleeper and third-AC coach of this train only.

Bharat Gaurav train was started to promote tourism at the local level. That’s why better quality luxury coaches were installed in it. These coaches are LHB coaches with facilities like comfortable seats, better lighting and mobile charging points. Along with this, special tour packages were made for this train. But its expensive ticket made it a ‘luxury brand’ limited to a special class.
Now approval has been given for reduction in fare, on which IRCTC has to take the final decision. Due to lack of passengers, the train tour of Shri Jagannath Yatra has been canceled on 8th November. While the second tour of Ramayana circuit has also been cancelled.
Expensive fare from Bharat Darshan
Earlier a similar train used to run under the name of ‘Bharat Darshan’ train. Its fare for a passenger was Rs 900 per day in sleeper class and Rs 1500 per day in third-AC. But it was closed in April 2022. This train had completed 16 trips from January to March 2022 and earned around Rs 13.15 crore.
